OSHA’s Top 10 Most Cited Safety Violations for 2013

It is interesting to note the most commonly issued safety violations published every year by the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). They recently published a preliminary list for the most cited violations in 2013.

Fall Protection (General Requirements) – It has been the number one most cited violation the past three years, and the standard is designed to protect employees on walking/working surfaces with an unprotected side or edge higher than 6 feet by providing the appropriate systems for given situations, proper construction, installation and supervision of employees. Hazard Communication – Addresses chemical hazards produced and imported in the workplace and the communication of those hazards to workers. Suppliers are required to provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) – now called Safety Data Sheet (SDS) – for each chemical. Scaffolding – Covers general safety for scaffolding, which should be designed by a qualified person and constructed and loaded in accordance with that design.

Electrical (Wiring Methods) – The standard covers the grounding of electrical, equipment, wiring and insulation.
