When Life Hands You Lemons, Make Lemonade

What kind of cause does a four year old with $2,000 care about? Pediatric cancer research. Alex Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, before the age of 1. When she turned four she set up a lemonade stand to donate the proceeds to “help other kids” facing the same disease she was battling and raised $2,000 in one day. By the time she passed away at eight years old, Alex had raised $1 million dollars through her yearly lemonade stands she held in her front yard and from people all over the world moved by her story and cause.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) has now grown and raised $75 million dollars toward:

  • Funding more than 375 research projects across North America
  • Creating a travel program to help support families of children receiving treatment
  • Developing resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer

The Chicago uniform company, together with the Business Executives Association (BEA) of Chicago, will be hosting a lemonade stand at Union Station on June 10th from 4 to 6 pm to help with this worthy cause. Please join us by donating now here, and stopping by on June 10th. Two teams will be selling lemonade for a friendly competition to see who can raise the most money for ALSF.

If you want to learn more about how your donation helps check out the “Where the Money Goes” page. Also visit NationalLemonadeDays.org to sign up to hold a stand or help spread awareness of the annual weekend of hope from June 6-8.

While Roscoe’s primary charitable endeavor is United Way, the uniform rental company, is a supporter of other worthy causes and strives to help out in anyway whether with sporting event tickets that can be sold at a silent auction, Image Apparel certificates and sometimes a check. Therefore, if one is particularly close to your heart don’t hesitate to let us know and we will do our utmost to help in some way.

Recently, the uniform rental company contributed to Sarah’s Circle, a customer of Roscoe’s, which provides a refuge for women who are homeless or in need of a safe space through housing assistance, case management, referral services and other life necessities.

Thank you for allowing Roscoe to continue in its mission of giving back to the community and help us fulfill Alex’s mission to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
