The Benefits of a Mat Rental Program

Mark Stedman - Sunday September 8, 2013

Want to reduce your company’s maintenance and injury costs? Invest in a rental mat program.

Floor mats save premature carpet replacement and reduce the maintenance required on hard surface floors. The labor required for this is extensive and expensive; it accounts for about 90% of building maintenance cost, according to Cleaning Management. Even removing just a pound of dirt adds up, with estimated costs exceeding $750 (International Sanitary Supply Association).

An effective mat will minimize the amount of dirt, soil and water tracked in from outside. Not only that, but it will also store contaminants and prevent particles from spreading throughout the facility. Mats manufactured with a heat-twisted nylon yarn aid in scraping dust and dirt off shoes to contain at the bottom of the mat until it is cleaned. All criteria established by the U.S. Green Building Council for good housekeeping.

Since vacuum cleaners remove a minuscule amount of dirt, it is important to have a mat program in place regularly laundered and maintained; adaptable to your needs. Proper placement and characteristics of mats (i.e. skid resistant) can also reduce floor level injuries, making your building safer for employees and visitors.

Having a mat program is cleaner, greener, cheaper and safer. Contact Roscoe to learn more about improving your facility.
