The Clean Green Environmental Award from the Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA) recognizes novel approaches by companies and/or facilities to increase sustainability, to conserve natural resources, and to reduce the operation’s overall environmental impact.
In 2010, Roscoe won the inaugural TRSA Clean Green Environmental Award primarily for having consolidated two plants and becoming the most efficient commercial laundry in the nation. We’ve also been Clean Green Certified every year since the certification was created in 2012.
We earned this year’s TRSA Clean Green Environmental Award for our Best Management Practices involving water reuse, reclamation and removal, as well as for various environmentally-conscious changes made in our physical workplace, including the initiatives below.
T8 Fluorescent Lights with Motion Sensors & Skylights
T8 bulbs use about 35% less electricity to produce the same amount of light as the commonly-used T12 bulb. Motion sensors allow areas to go dim when there is no human activity. Skylights provide natural light to our facility, reducing the need for artificial illumination.
Recycling Hangers, Cardboard Boxes & Pallets
Roscoe uses over 450,000 hangers a month, so we created a program to recycle them as well as cardboard boxes and pallets. Additionally, for every rack of hangers we get back, we make a donation to The United Way.
Linen Laundry Bags Instead of Disposable Plastic
Roscoe previously used up to 4,000 plastic bags per month. The eco-friendly linen bags are reusable and Roscoe was able to significantly reduce waste.
Implementing Route Optimization Software
Our route optimization program helps to reduce mileage and fleet fuel consumption while boosting productivity and delivery speed.
Sustainability for 95 Years
From the very beginning, Roscoe’s core culture has been based on sustainability. We began over 95 years ago by recycling towels. Over time, we’ve developed our methods and technology to provide customers with a myriad of alternatives to disposable products. Above all, we are proud to hold the distinction of being the company with the longest-running record (over 40 years) of compliance with the Clean Water Act of any company in the laundry industry.
