Roscoe Family Picnic a Showcase of Teamwork – Minus the “Work”

Set against the backdrop of National Grove South in Riverside on a gorgeous spring day, Roscoe Company’s friends and family gathered for our annual picnic, complete with games, a bouncy house, and food… Lots of food.

With nearly 250 in attendance, the picnic was a lively representation of Roscoe’s culture. We enjoyed each other’s company, cooked and ate delicious food together, and celebrated our dedicated team members and their families.

Pride of the Jungle, Proud of Our Employees

Our company motto, “Take Pride,” was brought to life through our picnic theme: Pride of the Jungle. Our well-loved clown, Strawberri, returned this year by popular demand and skillfully painted children’s faces, transforming them into creatures of the jungle. To add to the theme, one family member brought along her pet snake and turtle, and children left with goody bags filled with zoo animal toys, safari stickers, and jungle-themed yo-yos.

Stockroom Team Leader, Samantha Lesniak expertly orchestrated the activities and games. Children of all ages played water balloon toss, “Hot Potato,” and “Simon Says,” while the adults played “Minute to Win It” games (reminiscent of the game show) that included “Junk in the Trunk” – a game involving a tissue box full of ping pong balls tied to participants’ backsides. As Human Resources Team Leader Theresa Falkner explained, “You have to keep shaking until all of the balls fall out of the tissue box… I was the guinea pig, and it took me less than a minute!”

A balloon relay also took place, testing both the coordination and teamwork of the participants, and bringing out the competitive side of our employees. The picnic-goers split into teams and had to choose which members would compete in which games. In a test of self-awareness and strategy, team members competed for themselves and their teams. Prizes and pride were both both at stake in these highly competitive, fun games.

Burgers and Bikes

To fuel the fun and games, the grill was manned by grill-masters Jesse Espinosa and Leroy Johnson, with sous-chef Miriam Avila completing the cook-out dream team. Together, they whipped up burgers, hot dogs, chicken and Italian sausages, and our team members brought along side dishes and desserts, including an incredible homemade flan from one of our production team members.

Between eating and cheering each other on, we raffled off prizes for both adults and kids, including an HP laptop, an Apple TV, bikes, a Mixmaster, and much more. Prizes for the games included gift cards to Amazon, Target, and nearby restaurants.

As we look forward to our 2020 Roscoe Family Picnic, we’re already brainstorming the next fun set of activities and games, striving to create the ultimate experience. To the friends and families who joined us: Thank you, and we’ll see you again next year!

As always, the support and contributions of our vendors helped make our picnic a success.
