At Roscoe, our state-of-the-art sorting system is an impressive piece of engineering. It automates the tracking of 3,000 garments an hour, sending, shirts, pants, jackets, and coats gliding along a system of overhead rails that can divert some items for repairs, while the rest speed along to be sorted by route, by customer and finally, by individual wearer.
The new system keeps garments perfectly spaced, preventing creases and wrinkles. It uses ultrahigh frequency (UHF) tags, which provide us – and our customers – same-day confirmation of every garment picked up for cleaning. Each garment is tracked from the day it is picked up to the day it is delivered, so we always know where your uniforms are.
Faster processing makes time for additional quality control, delivering garments ready for inspection one day sooner than under the previous sorting system. Here’s how it works.

The new Kannegiesser auto-sorting system allows us to have uniforms washed, finished, sorted and ready for delivery in one day.
That’s time we’ve put back into the part of our customer service that takes place by hand: thorough quality inspections that ensure every garment goes out clean and pristine. These inspections answer the following questions:
- Is the garment in good condition, with a good finish?
- Are the colors fresh, the zippers working, the buttons in place and the emblems well affixed?
- Are repairs needed?
- Are there garments that need to be replaced?
- Is the order complete?
That’s the human touch, right where the human touch should be, with plenty of time to resolve issues and still get uniforms out to our customers on time.
