It is shaping up to be a rough cold and flu season.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the 2019-2020 flu season has resulted in as many as 32 million illnesses and 18,000 deaths, with weeks to go.
While flu shots can lessen symptoms for some people, flu strains mutate and change each year, making it impossible for the flu vaccine to perfectly target every influenza variation.
