Roscoe takes pride in both supporting Chicagoland businesses with uniform rental services and the work we do in our community. We’re honored to receive the 2022 Company Community Service Award from TRSA for our recent contribution to Chicago’s historic Lincoln Park Zoo.
While our philanthropy has typically reached the human population of Chicago, in 2021, The Roscoe Company and its Buik family owners had the opportunity to help our favorite four-legged friends… lions. The Lincoln Park Zoo had begun a renovation project for the lion habitat. They hoped to double the space and add more features for the lion’s well-being. This includes trees to climb, high rocks for high vantage points, and areas to seek privacy, shade, and shelter. It would also expand the viewing area for visitors.
Roscoe made a significant donation to the lion habitat renovation project. We see the project as a way to help the lions and benefit the Chicago community. Thanks to generous supporters and donations, the Lincoln Park Zoo remains free of charge and open to the public.
Roscoe Takes Pride
As Roscoe’s President Jim Buik learned about the “Pride of Chicago” campaign to renovate the historic lion house, he felt more connected to the project. He felt it especially coincided with Roscoe’s 100th anniversary.
“It sounded a bit like Roscoe’s story – taking a century-old building and repurposing it into a state-of-the-art facility that all of Chicago can enjoy while keeping the history intact. That sung to me,” Buik said. “It was the biggest single donation my company or the family has ever made. It was a big decision, but it was a decision supported by the great work that the zoo does, the community commitment that Roscoe has, and the connection between the ‘Pride of Chicago’ theme and our own ‘Take Pride’ motto.”
TRSA Company Community Service Award
The TRSA is a membership organization that supports companies that supply, launder, and maintain uniforms and linens. The TRSA Company Community Service Award recognizes operators and supplier partners whose volunteer projects contribute to their local communities. Hours of service, the impact of the service on the community, and the inspiration value of the service are considerations. TRSA recognizes that these efforts highlight an organization’s care for and sense of responsibility to the communities where they operate.
Roscoe recently celebrated their Company Community Service Award at a gala marking its 100th anniversary. This had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As noted by TRSA, “This spirit of community – coupled with entrepreneurial drive – has helped Roscoe thrive amid widespread consolidation in the linen, uniform and facility services industry. And like the lion exhibit, which has recently added a new cub, Roscoe continues to grow thanks to its dedication to quality and service.”
