Coat Angels Campaign Leaves Roscoe Employees Feeling Warm

At Roscoe, we help people get dressed for work all year long. But it’s a special honor when we get to help Chicago area schoolchildren get dressed properly for winter.

Since 2006, the not-for-profit Coat Angels organization has been outfitting underprivileged Chicago children with new coats, hats, fleeces, and gloves.

It’s an effort that has helped keep more than 4,000 area children warm over the years. The all-volunteer program collects donations, partners with retailers, and shops for coats and accessories for specific children identified by teachers and social workers.

At Roscoe, our fundraising drive for the Coat Angels will begin next month. HR Team Leader Theresa Faulkner estimates that up to 85% of our employees participated last year, either by donating money, volunteering to help with coat deliveries, or both. Employee fundraising was matched by a company donation.

Help Keep a Needy Child Warm this Winter

The result was a lot of happy children, said Faulkner, who helped bag and distribute clothes last year. “It’s really rewarding to see the look on their faces,” she said. “They were so excited. Some of them had never had a real coat.”

By relying on volunteer labor and donations of products and services, the program can turn donations directly into coats. A $50 contribution buys a coat, a fleece pullover, a pair of gloves and a hat. If you would like to help, you can make a donation directly through the site.
