Business Executives Association Teams Up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

In our last post, the Roscoe Uniform Company discussed the importance of collaboration with a varied network as a way to learn about and implement best practices, have access to additional resources, introduce new products and programs, and most importantly, start a conversation within Roscoe’s industry.

A group the Roscoe Company and owner, Jim Buik, is actively a part of is the Business Executives Association (BEA) whose mission is to connect business leaders through the sharing of contacts, management philosophies and ideas. Founded over 65 years ago by a group of Chicago business owners it is a supporter of networking and has expanded to also include educational programs.

This year, BEA has chosen Alex’s Lemonade Stand as its charity.

Founded by an inspiring young girl, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a national organization dedicated to curing childhood cancer. According to Charity Navigator, an independent watchdog, ALSF earned an “Outstanding” rating spending 86.2% on research programs to end this devastating disease. That is an exceptional amount compared to other national charities and goes toward:

  • Funding more than 100 cutting-edge research projects
  • Creating a travel program to help support families of children receiving treatment
  • Developing resources to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer

The Foundation emerged from a young cancer patient’s lemonade stand and determination to help other children battling cancer after she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma before the age of one. Alexandra “Alex” Scott asked for help to reach her goal of raising $1 million to help kids with cancer before she passed away in 2004 at eight years old. Her community and the nation responded and today the Foundation has raised over $75 million in the fight against childhood cancer.

The BEA is hosting a lemonade stand at Union Station in Chicago on June 10th from 4 pm to 6 pm where Team Members from the uniform rental company will be present. All of the funds raised are donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and will benefit the fight against pediatric cancer. The fundraising goal for BEA’s Lemonade Stand is $7,500 and currently the team has raised over $5,000. We are having a “friendly” competition among the team to see who can generate the most on-line donations, so please help me reach my goal by clicking on the link below and make a tax deductible donation now. No donation is too small (or too big!).
